The Demon Boyz were a British hip hop group formed in London by Demon D, Mike J and DJ Devastate. They began rapping whilst in their early teens, performing at the Rebel MC’s Beat Freak gigs. Their big break came when they won a competition on Dave Pearce’s rap show, their prize being to perform live on stage with Derek B, Faze One and T La Rock at a gig at Camden Palace. Derek B – aka Derek Boland, quasi-A&R man for Music of Life records – was so impressed with the group that he put them in touch with the company’s founder, Simon Harris.

GURU - RIP : PREMIER STATEMENT

Posted by DRIP CHEMISTRY On 9:01 PM 0 comments

IT WAS A SAD DAY FOR ME TO GET CONFIRMATION ON THE DEATH OF A MAN WHO I WILL CONTINUE TO CALL MY BROTHER, KEITH ELAM, BETTER KNOWN AS GURU OF THE LEGENDARY GANG STARR.

FROM 1988-2004, WE EXPERIENCED SO MUCH SUCCESS TOGETHER THAT WE WERE ABLE TO EXPAND OUR BUSINESSES INDEPENDENTLY AND GIVE EACH OTHER WHAT GURU CALLED “CREATIVE SPACE”, BEFORE PLANNING TO REUNITE FOR OUR 7TH LP WHEN THE TIME WAS RIGHT. TRAGICALLY, WE WILL NEVER REACH THAT DAY.

I’VE BEEN ASKED TO COMMENT ON A LETTER SPEAKING ILL OF ME WHICH WAS SUPPOSEDLY WRITTEN BY GURU IN HIS DYING DAYS. ALL I WILL SAY ABOUT IT IS THAT OUR TIME TOGETHER WAS BEAUTIFUL, WE BUILT A HIP HOP LEGACY TOGETHER, AND NO ONE CAN RE-WRITE HISTORY OR TAKE AWAY MY LOVE FOR HIM. ONE THING I WOULD NEVER DO IS PLAY AROUND WITH THE TRUTH ABOUT HIS LIFE.

I WILL CELEBRATE GURU’S LIFE… I WILL HONOR HIS MEMORY… I WILL GRIEVE WITH THE ELAM FAMILY OVER HIS UNTIMELY DEATH… I WILL REMEMBER THE GANG STARR FOUNDATION AND ALL OF THE ORIGINAL MEMBERS OF GANG STARR WHO CAME BEFORE ME – WE ALL KNOW EACH OTHER… MOSTLY, I WILL CHERISH EVERYTHING WE CREATED TOGETHER AS GANG STARR, FOREVER. I’M GONNA MISS HEARING HIS SIGNATURE MONOTONE VOICE WHEN HE WALKS IN THE ROOM, BUT THE SONGS WILL ALWAYS BRING IT BACK TO ME….HIS RHYME FLOWS WERE INSANE, AND I WILL NEVER REMOVE HIM FROM MY HEART AND SOUL…….REST IN PEACE TO THE MAN WHO FELT “SATISFACTION FROM THE STREET CROWD REACTION” … I LOVE YOU GOO…….DJ PREMIER

ANTOINETTE - WHOS THE BOSS 1989
A REAL DEF FEMALE M.C.

http://www.mediafire.com/?meudd2zmlgz
Who's the Boss? is the debut album by rapper, Antoinette. It was released in 1989 through Next Plateau Entertainment and featured production from I.G. Off, Jay Ellis and the Ultramagnetic MCs. The album peaked at #47 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums and featured several singles, "Shake Rattle & Roll", "Baby Make It Boom" and "Who's the Boss", but none made it to the charts.

POOR RIGHTEOUS TEACHERS - HOLY INTELLECT 1990
PEACE 2 THE GODS & EARTHS

http://www.mediafire.com/?kzm0qzybejt
Poor Righteous Teachers were a Hip Hop group from Trenton, New Jersey, founded in 1989. Often referred to as PRT by their fans, Poor Righteous Teachers were known as pro-Black conscious hip hop artists, with musical content inspired by the teachings of the Nation of Gods and Earths. Wise Intelligent, as the lead MC, was the most visible and well known member of the group. Culture Freedom provided backing vocals and production and Father Shaheed served as a DJ and producer. Its discography, for the most part on Profile Records, is out of print, and Profile Records is now controlled by Arista Records, a division of Sony Music Entertainment.

MAIN SOURCE - BREAKING ATOMS 1990
AN ALL TIME CLASSIC. A MUST HAVE

http://www.mediafire.com/?i0ln2ouyzlj
Main Source was an innovative, acclaimed Toronto and New York-based hip hop group comprising Toronto natives Sir Scratch, K-Cut, and Queens native Large Professor. Later, Mikey D (also a Queens native) replaced Large Professor.

Their first album, Breaking Atoms, featured conscious MC tracks such as "Looking at the Front Door" and "A Friendly Game of Baseball" and "Watch Roger Do His Thing" as well as the first on-record appearance of Nas on "Live at the Barbeque", which also featured Joe Fatal and Akinyele. Because of business differences, the group broke up before their second album, tentatively entitled The Science could be released. However, Sir Scratch and K-Cut released a second album under the Main Source name, entitled Fuck What You Think, with new recruit Mikey D on vocals; however, the album was shelved due to inner conflicts between the record label and group management.

AWESOME DRE & THE HARDCORE COMMITEE - YOU CANT HOLD ME BACK 1989
A TRUE DETROIT LEGENDARY M.C. DEFINATLY IN MY TOP TEN HIP HOP CLASSICS

http://www.mediafire.com/?zzt50ymywvv
Awesome Dré & The Hardcore Committee are probably the first Detroit-based rap group to be signed to a major label in 1989 releasing You Can't Hold Me Back on Priority Records. Even with the singles "You Can't Hold Me Back" and "Frankly Speaking", the album reached #52 on the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop charts before Awesome Dré faded into obsurity. However, his short-lived legacy put Motown on the map, which had previously only been known for R&B and techno/house, and it would be a precursor for other rap acts that would come forth years later.
